Sheila Gordon is a licensed Head Athletic Trainer at White Knoll High School. Sheila is a graduate of the University of Georgia where she earned her undergraduate degree in exercise science and a graduate degree in sports administration. In 2018, she graduated from Fort Hays State University with an additional graduate degree in education leadership. Sheila was inducted into the South Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association Hall of Fame also known as the Hoover Award of Excellence in July 2025. Sheila was named the 2025 National Athletic Trainers’ Association District 3 Athletic Trainer of the Year. She currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the South Carolina Athletic Trainers Licensing Board and as an athletic trainer advisory member of the South Carolina High School League Executive Committee. Sheila was also inducted into the White Knoll High School Hall of Fame in 2023 and Teacher of the Year in 2011. Sheila works with athletes from White Knoll High School and both Carolina Springs and White Knoll Middle School. She is looking forward to retiring from White Knoll High School in June.
Krista Richards has been a certified athletic trainer for nine years. She has worked in multiple settings as a student and certified athletic trainer including college football, soccer, gymnastics, equestrian, swimming and diving, high school sports and the orthopedic clinic.
Krista earned a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Oregon State University in 2016 and a master’s degree in Advanced Athletic Training from the University of South Carolina in 2018.
After completing her master’s degree, Krista worked in the orthopedic clinic setting while also providing athletic training services to high school sports in the midlands.
In 2019, Krista made the switch back to her alma mater and college sports to work with the USC swimming and diving teams. She supervised the graduate assistant athletic trainer working with the swimming and diving teams each year and students in the professional masters athletic training program at USC.
Now, Krista is excited for the next chapter to be a team member of Timberwolf Sports Medicine.

My name is Christopher Dugan and I am one of the Athletic Trainers at White Knoll High School. I graduated from Stall High School in North Charleston in 2001. Before getting into Athletic Training my first two degrees were in Graphic Design and Media Arts. I made the drastic change to Athletic Training when my father had a heart attack in 2015. He had gone back to school and was set to graduate from Charleston Southern that weekend. That motivated me to go back to school too. I was always active and thought Athletic Training would be a good fit, and of course I fell in love with the profession. I graduated from The University of South Carolina with a BS in Athletic Training in 2019. I have found the connection you get to make with the athletes is like no other. White Knoll has been a great place to work at, and I have enjoyed my time and making connections with players, coaches, and staff here.
Bobby McLeod is in his sixth year as a certified athletic trainer and fourth year with White Knoll high school and Prisma Health.
McLeod earned a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from the University of Alabama in 2019 and a master’s degree in advanced athletic training from the University of South Carolina in 2021.
During his time at Alabama he worked with Alabama women’s volleyball, track and field, cross country, and rehabilitation center. He also spent time at Brookwood and Tuscaloosa County high schools. While a graduate assistant at Carolina he worked as an assistant athletic trainer at Dreher high school and athletic trainer at Whitmire Community School.
Originally from Kinards, SC he enjoys working on his family’s farm, hunting and fishing.
Mickey F. Plymale, MD, received his medical degree from Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, West Virginia. He completed his internship and residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. He completed fellowships at the Dr. James Andrews American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. He is a member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Sports Medicine Fellowship Society. His team physician history includes Auburn University athletics; Barons AA baseball, an affiliate of Chicago White Sox; the Alabama Ballet Company; the University of Alabama ice hockey team; the SEC baseball tournament; Vestavia Hills High School, 6A, of Birmingham, Alabama; and Truman High School in New York City. He currently is the team physician and medical director for the South Carolina State Bulldogs, Columbia Fireflies single A baseball team, affiliates of the Kansas City Royals, and several local area high schools. His specialties and clinical interests include fracture care; upper extremity, hip and knee surgery; arthroscopic ACL reconstruction; meniscus repair; arthroscopic rotator cuff repair; shoulder stabilization procedures; patella instability; joint preservation; cartilage replacement and transplantation; and partial knee replacement.
